A broad low-pressure system off the Pacific Northwest coast will direct an atmospheric river into northern California slowly dropping south into Central California throughout the day on Saturday. This frontal boundary will weaken as it moves into Southern California Saturday night into Sunday morning bringing showers to the area. Expect mostly sunny skies on Saturday with increasing clouds and winds later in the day. Cooler and windy with highs in the 50's, southwest winds developing 10-20 mph during the afternoon. Showers will develop Saturday night with rain likely into Sunday morning. Because this system is tapping into tropical/subtropical moisture from the Pacific the snow level will generally remain above 7,000-8,000 feet. Clearing, breezy, and cooler Sunday with highs in the 40's. Additional storms may impact the area next week leading up to our Thanksgiving Holiday keeping conditions cool and unsettled with possible rain and snow showers at times. Though exact details on timing, intensity, and snow levels are to be determined at this time. If you have travel plans anytime now through the holiday be prepared for winter weather driving conditions and always carry tire chains.
